Having one dog is pretty normal for many Americans. Lots of people even have two. We're those people who go above and beyond the normal. We have three dogs, which officially means that we have ourselves a pack. Over the past year, we have gone from being laid-back owners of a toy dog, to agility crazed parents of two power breeds and a toy breed dog. We're now those people who spend Friday nights at the dog park or on the agility field instead of on date night. Also, we've watched enough Dog Whisperer to consider ourselves experts on everyone else's dogs. This blog's aim is to share photos and videos of a three dog family, but also to educate others on relevant information that we have to share.
It's only appropriate to introduce our fur-babies to the internet properly.....
Diva is 5 years old, and the oldest dog. She's a chihuahua and aussie shepard mix ( we know, strange), and is full of personality. She's a couch potato, and loves to nap. When she's outside she protects the house from squirrels and loves to eat grass. She's the guard dog of the house without a doubt, and she is definately a Mommy's girl. I bought her from a breeder in rural Florida, and she has grown up so big! She's around 15lbs and is partially hairless due to allergies in New York.
A few months before we got married, my hubby and I went looking for a puppy. What we found was a huge lab/pit bull mix named Apollo. We're unsure about his past, but he's been with us for over a year now. He's a gentle giant! He loves to nap on the couch with his humans, and gives slobbery kisses. Apollo is infamous for sitting with his jowls on someone's arm to lovingly beg for food. He loves being outside and swimming and running off leash.
As you may have noticed, we had ourselves a gross size mismatch. We waited about 7 months and then started the hunt for a third dog. We were hoping for a temperment similar to Apollo's, but it didn't happen. Athena was adopted on Dec. 13th, 2010 from an organization called Out of the Pits in Albany, New York. She's a lab/ pit bull mix and about 45 lbs at 9 months old right now. She's black with white markings and is a very sassy young lady. She loves to play with her big brother, and steal toys from her little sister. She goes crazy for tennis balls and loves to chase them. Athena is also quite the swimmer, and has just started agility classes.
This is our furr-family. If you don't want to get licked at and have a tail hitting you from one of the dogs, then you're not a three dog person. We look forward to sharing the adventures of our three dog family with you!
